INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS 2023

Trends are ever-changing but they tend to be revived every few years which keeps us in a constant circle of things going in and out of style. For this reason, it is important for us interior designers and architects to stay up to date but also to estimate if a trend will stay in style or become outdated again within a few months.

USE OF COLORS

One of the bigger trends of 2023 that we are facing right now, is the alteration of the previously beloved minimalism. While this trend has been predominantly  linked to subtle whites, grays, blacks and earthy tones in the past, we are recognizing the rise of bold colors, which are preferably used as pops of color throughout the space, giving it a more unique, statement-like character.

While the more earthy tones are still a thing, they are also experiencing a change, transitioning into darker, more prominent shades such as muted browns and pinks.

MATERIALITY AND MODERNISM

In combination, lots of people seem to lean towards the use of unusual materials, to balance out the otherwise quite curvy, soft shapes, which we’ve already been seeing a lot in the previous years. Aluminum, glass and stone tie in the modern spaces, giving them a hint of brutalism in the form of coffee-tables or unique home-decor pieces.

TILES AS THE MAIN CHARACTER

Minimalism is not the only way to go though, if you want to stick to modern day trends.

Extraordinary tiles are experiencing a rise as well. Be it an unusual, 3 dimensional shape, a certain colorway or material; tiles are no longer limited to their functionality but instead are being used as special eye-catchers, even in rooms, other than the kitchen or bathroom.

WELLNESS AT HOME

Besides the aesthetics-based trends, there are also those that relate to our change of lifestyle.

Sustainability is in - that means durable, ethically farmed materials, house-plants and resource-friendly appliances are greatly appreciated by our clients and the environment.

With the growing popularity of self-care, spaces for mental and physical wellbeing and wellness such as saunas or meditation rooms (just to name a few) are getting implemented into residential or even office spaces more and more, balancing out the stressful workdays and transforming every home into an oasis.

Whether you enjoy something or not, should not be based on its trendiness in the end.

We want to build a space that our clients can benefit from in the long run which is why - while we are getting inspired by our surroundings daily - we focus on creating individual experiences, fitted to the unique needs and wants of each person.
